When Falcon Heavy lifts off later this year, it will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two. Thrust at liftoff is equal to approximately eighteen 747 aircraft operating simultaneously.
I was blocked by two trucks on south bound I-95 at exit 9 in NJ (New Brunswick exit). I only wanted to take a picture while i was awaiting for them to clear up... And then I heard a noise from behind...I was barely missed. ***UPDATE (moved from the bottom of the description, since no one bothers to read it): Once I turned off camera, I called in 911 and reported the accident. After that, I came to the truck driver and the rest of the cars to verify they were alright. After arrival of NJ State Trooper and his dismissal confirming that he does not require my presence, I left the scene.

A black Labrador named Eclipse just wants to get to the dog park. So if her owner takes too long finishing his cigarette, and their bus arrives, she climbs aboard solo and rides to her Seattle stop.
A jet skier in Iceland has inadvertently filmed himself making contact with a humpback whale, by accidentally running over the huge ocean mammal.
Brynjar Thor Gunnarsson said that he and his friend were playing on the water as they headed home after a long day out on the fjord when they spotted several whales. Mr Gunnarsson said they headed over to take a closer look.
What they didn't know is that there was another whale, much closer, under the water which popped up right in front of him, giving him no time to steer away from it.

Since I was a kid, my mom's been raving about this car that she's always wanted: an old Saab. Last year, I asked her to point out the exact car, in passing. She pointed out a copper coloured 1973 Saab 99 EMS.
[UPDATE] A lot of people have been asking why her dream car is the Saab '73 99 EMS. My mom used to clean houses for a living, and one of the houses she would clean for a few years was a guy who owned a 70's saab 99. He would throw her the keys and let her move the car all the time and she fell in love with it.
After 6 months of looking, my friend found one on eBay and I reached out to the seller. It wasn't the same year or colour, but it was close. It was a silver 1974. After talking with him on the phone, I found out he had a lot of collectible Saabs, one of which was the exact make, model, colour and year I was looking for.
It took me another 6 months to get it, but surprising her with it made it all worthwhile.
For those who are watching and aren't familiar with the project, I'll explain it here:
2.5 years ago, my mom lost her job and I set off on a challenge to earn enough money to financially retire her. I haven't been successful yet, but this is a big milestone in helping to improve her life. She hasn't had a car in a year, and the one before that was falling apart.
Ian Clark, principal investigator of the Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator, takes us through a play-by-play of NASA’s recent 'flying saucer' Test in Hawaii, using high-definition video shot from cameras on board the test vehicle.
Special thanks to the World Barefoot Center in Florida for setting everything up for this trip with Vooray. They teach barefoot skiing classes all over the world and are the best in the world at what they do. They provided the boat and amazing athletes for the video in Florida. Awesome crew of people! Check them out below:
The skipper of the boat tried to start it after it died in the middle of the lake. It caught fire, so he jumped ship and watched it burn slowly. The wind drifted the burning boat to shore. No one could really do anything about it as it had two big tanks of gas on board until a jet boat SAVED THE DAY!
SpaceX's Grasshopper takes a 12-story leap towards full and rapid rocket reusability in a test flight conducted December 17, 2012 at SpaceX's rocket development facility in McGregor, Texas. Grasshopper, a vertical takeoff and landing vehicle (VTVL), rose 131 feet (40 meters), hovered and landed safely on the pad using closed loop thrust vector and throttle control. The total test duration was 29 seconds. Grasshopper stands 10 stories tall and consists of a Falcon 9 rocket first stage, Merlin 1D engine, four steel landing legs with hydraulic dampers, and a steel support structure.
